Object Name Horn
Date 19th Century
Description Organic bovid horn converted into an instrument for making a musical note that attracts cattle and causes them to come to the person making the sound. The common description is "cattle caller." The interior of the horn has been scraped clean, and the small end has been hollowed out to produce a mouthpiece. A hole was drilled at the large end and a cord is tied onto the horn from this hole. The cord is tied onto the small end where it narrows.
Found on the donor's grandfather's Hicks Lake Homestead (Wood homestead).
